Bright beginnings
First of all… HELLO!
Welcome!
One of my goals this year was to set up a news letter. So here I am. Setting one up. Goal achieved!
Why you ask? Well, I wanted a space to update you all on my Audiobook Narration work and a place to keep myself accountable for my writing goals.
Firstly, I have some exciting news audiobook wise! I am going to be taking part in Audiobook Empires Outreach Initiative for the next 4 weeks. Reaching out to people I don’t know is something that fills me with anxiety as I’m sure it does for most people, but unfortunately it’s a big part of being self employed. So I need to overcome it and what better way than to do it with like minded narrators?
I also recently signed a contract for my next audiobook. It hasn’t been announced yet so I don’t know if I can tell you the title, but I can tell you that it’s a YA Fantasy. So I’m very excited.
I am also due to start prepping the manuscript for the third and final instalment of The Book Of Imaginari Series, titled The Guardians Of Imaginari, which I’m looking forward to. It’s also a little bit sad, because this series was the first audition I booked when I started out as a narrator!
What I’m reading
In February I finished (read all of) the Throne Of Glass Series by Sarah J Maas, which meant I was basically emotionally dead for most of March. My answer to that was to finally cave and try out the Kindle Unlimited trial. It was both the best and worst idea I’ve ever had. I read just under 20 books in March alone. Safe to say I will be continuing with Kindle Unlimited. I also discovered yesterday that I can get the Women’s Health magazines on there too!
TANGENT!
Anyway, my next read is going to be Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard. And I’m not going to lie, I’m a little scared. I follow her on both Tiktok and Instagram and all I’ve taken from that is that no one is safe or trust worthy. So we’ll see how that goes.
What I’m writing
I’m currently re-acquainting myself with my WIP. I’m around 30k words in and I have come to an abrupt stop. I think I’m going to need to go back and delete some of what I’ve written (or at least move it to another document) as I can’t see a way forward from where a couple of the characters are. But I’m hoping to hit the mid point by the end of April (and be somewhere around 50k words).
What I’m watching
I’m currently watching the new season of Picard. I am loving the return of the old characters. Some of the episodes have been really nostalgic even within a completely new storyline, which I love.
I’ve also started watching the new season of Mandalorian. And I have a list as long as my arm for all the things I’d like to watch. But that is life with a 2 and 4 year old, whilst also starting out in a new industry! Something has to give.
To wrap up… Lots of exciting things happening. I feel like I’m finally getting myself organised this month.
It’s Easter weekend as I write this, so I’m hoping to use that opportunity to get lots done!
And with that, I best go start prepping!
